Marciano Art Foundation has invited German artist Olafur Eliasson to develop a new work for the foundation’s spectacular Theater Gallery, on display today until August 25 2018.
Artist Olafur Eliasson Neon Installation titled Reality Projector at first floor
Marciano Art Foundation is excited to present its second artist project, a site-specific installation created for the foundation’s expansive first floor Theater Gallery. The foundation has invited renowned artist Olafur Eliasson for his first major exhibition in Los Angeles, in over a decade. Eliasson’s art includes sculptures, paintings, photography, film, and installations—is driven by his interests in perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self.
Maurice Marciano said, “I am thrilled to welcome Olafur into the Maricano Art Foundation family. I can’t wait to see his transformation of the theater gallery come to fruition and be able to share this unique and immersive art viewing experience with the Los Angeles community as well as with art lovers from around the world”.
For his exhibition at the foundation, titled Reality projector (2018), Eliasson shows a complex installation that uses projected light and the architecture of the space to create a dynamic shadow play. The artwork references the space’s former function as a theater as well as the history of filmmaking in the city by turning the entire space into an abstract, three-dimensional film.

Eliasson collaborated with musician and sound artist Jónsi to create a unique soundtrack toaccompany the piece. Eliasson recorded his own experimentation on a piano set up in the studio which he played with found objects. The resulting sound library was mixed and arranged by Jónsi, in dialogue with Eliasson into an ambient soundscape to accompany the artwork Reality projector.

The exhibition includes two additional new works, Reality mosaic and Yellow atmosphere projector (both 2018), which Eliasson produced specifically for the Foundation’s lobby.
Olafur Eliasson:
Olafur Eliasson, born 1967, grew up in Iceland and Denmark. In 1995, he moved to Berlin and founded Studio Olafur Eliasson, which today encompasses some ninety craftsmen, specialized technicians, architects, archivists, administrators, programmers, art historians, and cooks.

Since the mid-1990s, Eliasson has realized numerous major exhibitions and projects around the world. In 2003, Eliasson represented Denmark at the 50th Venice Biennale and later that year, he installed The weather project in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, London. Take your time: Olafur Eliasson, a survey exhibition organized by SFMOMA in 2007, travelled until 2010 to various venues, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Eliasson’s projects in public space include The New York City Waterfalls, 2008.
Albert Oehlen and Peppi Bottrop: Line Packers"" at the Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles, California.
On view through June 2018.

The Marciano Art Foundation presented March 1st "Line Packers”," a special exhibition, conceived by Cornelius Tittel, of two German painters Peppi Bottrop (b. 1986, Bottrop) and Albert Oehlen (b. 1954, Krefeld). The foundation’s Lounge Gallery will feature Bottrop’s line-drawing paintings responding to the architecture of the Lounge Gallery itself alongside works from Oehlen’s Computer Paintings, a series that the artist began in the early 1990s, which is now regarded as a turning point for contemporary painting.

Bottrop’s work is conceived as a meditation on his hometown, a once prominent coal mining and rail center in the Ruhr region. Bottrop employs charcoal—a metaphor for what once powered the world, and a nod to the now-defunct mechanical industry—in an expansive wall-drawing engraved into slabs of Fermacell, a material now replacing sheetrock or gypsum used in the construction of institutional architecture.

Oehlen’s Computer Paintings, which will be affixed to Bottrop’s walls, made between 1992 and 2008, exemplify Oehlen’s pioneering role as one of the first contemporary painters to explore the nascent capabilities and limits of drawing and line-making through the use of a now-rudimentary Texas Instruments computer. The wall-drawings and supports by Bottrop juxtaposed with Oehlen’s Computer Paintings suggest new possibilities for the line in painting. This line, embedded materially into the Fermacell walls, offers a proposition for the medium of painting to re-define itself. The two autonomous, yet mutually-dependent works establish a place of intensive communication and self-exploration, supporting one another in this single, temporary unification that looks to Wilshire Boulrbstf and Los Angeles, a city that is just as easily defined by its own lines of interstate and highway infrastructure.

An event of these characteristics represents a clear benefit to the economy of the country that hosts the awards, which is why Riviera Maya has made a strong commitment to the PLATINOS. “Given that tourism is culture, economy and society, whenever we support culture, like we're doing now, we demonstrate tourism's capacity to be a transforming power for people,” says Marisol Vanegas, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo.

Announcements by Karen Ostlund

COLCOA French Film Festival will return its 22nd anniversary in the theaters of the Directors Guild of America, from April 23 to April 30, 2018 in West Hollywood, CA.
More than 120 screenings and panels are scheduled, including feature films, documentary, shorts, TV and digital series will compete for the COLCOA Awards.
“Through its different competitions, we are proud to dedicate this year’s programming of COLCOA to women, both in their role in the making of the films and series, and their central roles in the majority of the stories selected this year,” said François Truffart, COLCOA Executive Producer and Artistic Director.
“Concretely, we will also introduce a new series called Women Make History.  We will dedicate a day to first films made by female writers and directors; our Focus on a Filmmaker day will be offered to writer, director, actor Mélanie Laurent; and one of our panels will address the role of women in the French film industry.”

An exclusive lineup of 37 new features and documentaries will compete for the COLCOA CINEMA AWARDS, beginning on Opening Night (Monday, April 23) with the North American Premiere of writer/director Eric Barbier’s PROMISE AT DAWN. This adaptation of French author Romain Gary’s autobiography and celebration of his mother gathers, in the title roles, Pierre Niney and Charlotte Gainsbourg

The cinema competition will close on Monday, April 30, with the North American Premiere of Cedric Kahn’s new drama, THE PRAYER.  The film recently had its triumphant world premiere at the Berlin Film festival where newcomer Anthony Bajon won the Best Actor Award.

COLCOA will honor writer, director and actress Mélanie Laurent on Thursday, April 26, with a special presentation of her first film THE ADOPTED/LES ADOPTÉS as part of the COLCOA Classics series. The film premiered at COLCOA in 2012 and won the COLCOA First Feature Award.  Following the first screening, Laurent will participate in a Happy Hour Talk dedicated to her career.  The evening will conclude with the U.S. Premiere of Laurent’s latest film DIVING/PLONGER that will be released in the U.S later this year by Gravitas Film.

THE ADOPTED/LES ADOPTÉS (2011) is the story of a family. A family of women often tossed about by life, but who have managed with time to ride out the storms. Men have little place in the women's lives and it's therefore quite natural that when one of the women falls in love, things come asunder. The family equilibrium has to be redefined and everyone strives to do so as best they can. But fate allows them to barely catch their breath before imposing another reality. The family must then learn everything anew. The mechanics of adoption must once again be put into action, obliging each person to change places.  Written by Mélanie Laurent, Morgan Perez, Christophe Deslandes; directed by Mélanie Laurent; with Marie Denarnaud, Denis Ménochet, Mélanie Laurent, Clémentine Célarié.  The film is distributed in the U.S. by Rialto Pictures.

DIVING/PLONGER (2017): César and Paz are madly in love. Paz, a Spanish photographer, is always looking for new experiences. But César, previously a war journalist, is looking for peace and quiet. Paz gets pregnant and the perspective of motherhood smothers her. Each day she becomes more distant, lost in a quest she can’t quite grasp herself. Until she suddenly leaves behind César and their baby with no explanation. Written by Christophe Deslandes, Julien Lambroschini, Mélanie Laurent, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot; directed by Mélanie Laurent; with Gilles Lellouche, María Valverde, Ibrahim Ahmed. The film will be distributed in the U.S. later this year by Gravitas Films.

A few well-heeled folk each bring a dimwit along who is to talk about his pastime at a weekly dinner. Each member seeks to introduce a champion dumbbell. Pierre, an avid participant of the game, runs into one problem after another that devilishly compromises his secrets, turning the tables on him and his objective, which diverges as the movie progresses. Firstly, wishing to be certain he has selected a winner, he invited his guest, Mr. Pignon, to meet him at home before setting off; but night of all nights, Pierre has put his back out and it is questionable whether he can manage to get to the dinner. The blundering Mr. Pignon will continually spring forward to help relieve Pierre of his troubles, which have drastically compounded, pointing in the direction of friends, taxes and women, and Pierre's dimwit Pignon accordingly will prove his substance to the end.  Written and directed by Francis Veber, with Jacques Villeret, Thierry Lhermitte, Francis Huster.

In the fall of 1963, Anne is becoming a teenager. She lives in Paris with her mother and her older sister, Frédérique. They're just back from summer at the beach with their father. School starts. For Frédérique it's the year of her first serious love, her first foray into politics (the Algerian question and "ban the bomb"), her first kiss from an older man, her first friend who runs away, and her first loss of friendship over values. For Anne, who watches her sister closely, it's a year of her first period and of learning to talk to boys, dealing with unfair teachers, and sorting things out with mom after getting in trouble. Written by Diane Kurys and Alain Le Henry; directed by diane Kurys, with Eléonore Klarwein, Odile Michel, Anouck Ferjac.  The film will be distributed in the United States later this year by Cohen Media Group.

COLCOA Television Competition Lineup 2018:

This year the Television section includes 12 selections competing for the COLCOA 2018 Television Awards given by both audience and a professional jury.  This year’s Television section is comprised of television series and TV movies, including the International Premiere of PROUD, a three-part miniseries that spans three generations with each generation dealing with a crucial gay rights moment in France. BEYOND SUSPICION / Insoupçonnable (TV Series – Season 1) – North American Premiere:
This highly anticipated series is an unexpectedly chilling thriller that follows gifted Parisian criminologist Chloé Fisher, who is sent to Lyon to investigate the murder of a powerful politician’s daughter-in-law. The perp in question is Paul Brodsky, a loving family man, perfect in every way and beyond reproach — shrink by day, abominable serial killer by night. And he’s just spotted his next victim.  An adaptation of the Belfast-based BBC series THE FALL. Written by Virginie Brac; directed by Fred Garson, Christophe Lamotte; with Emmanuelle Seignier, Melvil Poupaud, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Claire Keim and Patrick Chesnais.

THE AGE OF STATELESS / Le Temps des Egarés (TV Movie) - North American Premiere:
Sira is a former refugee.  She speaks six languages and works as a translator for OFPRA, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons, which is responsible for applying the dictates of the Geneva Convention.  Unscrupulous and extremely lucid, Sira doesn’t hesitate to extort huge sums of money from displaced foreigners seeking asylum in France.  While the story is fictional, the dramatic fate and cruelty imposed upon refugees rejected by OFPRA are approached with great accuracy.  Written by Virginie Sauveur, Gaëlle Belland; directed by Virginie Sauveur; with Claudia Tagbo, Biyouna B, Jean-Pierre Lorit, Hadja Traore, Alice Belaïdi.

THE ART OF CRIME / L’Art Du Crime (TV series) - North American Premiere:
Booted off the Paris police force for insubordination, Antoine Verlay is transferred to a government task force fighting the illegal trafficking of cultural artifacts. A hothead and keen investigator, he teams up with Florence Chassagne, a renowned art historian at the Louvre. As Antoine and Florence solve a series of modern-day crimes that take place in France’s storied museums and landmarks, they unveil some of the great mysteries of the country’s cultural and historical heritage. PART 2: Psychic Hearing 2018 JonBenet Ramsey's Murder Mystery

JonBenet’s Murder Mystery is linked to other unresolved mysteries such as: Topac Shakor, Stephen Paddock and Mary Jo Kopechne.
It's a long procedure to resolve, because it’s not possible to have "psychic hearing" until June 16th 2017, that the case is linked to both Oslo Castle and Stockholm Castle.
(Amy) JonBenet's tabloid photo in late 1987-89
Most beauty pageant kids who travel and compete, have a stage-name. JonBenet’s stage-name was Amy. The tabloids and footage of "The murder of Amy” was featured in late fall 1987 to the end of 1988, and have been locked in.
There was no more publicity about “The murder of Amy” in 1989, except for a NYC tabloid as The National Examiner, which magazine had a small head photo of Amy (JonBenet) in sepia on the cover, next to a black and white photo of her funeral. Inside the magazine were new beauty pageant photos released of her in sepia.

The 4 key figures in “Psychic Hearing Part 2" are:

A transgender that used to fly North African Airlines, a blond man with a Boulder police ID,
Queen Silvia of Sweden and the tabloids.

PART 1 was published April 22 2017 in this blog: https://westhollywoodtoday.blogspot.com/2017/04/psychic-hearing-2017jonbenet-ramsey.html

It started in 1982 the blond man with Boulder police ID came to visit Patsy Ramsey in here home. He called himself Richard, and showed police ID of a last name Bennett.
During his visit he took a photo of Patsy and her son. There is a photo of Richard and Patsy sitting down and smiling from that meeting in 1982. The photo is now mixed with 80s photos of John Ramsey and Patsy together, and Richard’s hair on the photo has been retouched to longer, darker hair. He took a pair of spare-keys to Patsy's house, before he left, from that meeting.
Later, Richard went to short-time jail, caused by the transgender, who needed to duplicate his police ID to give to seven Marrakesh male friends, coming to US.
During his short-time jail time, Richard invented with his mind that John Ramsey had a previous marriage and son to Lucinda. - and he put Patsy and her son’s photo taken in 1982 in his jail-locker.
John Mark Karr photo in the news 2006
There are two photos of John Mark Karr with blond hair and oval face, mixed with Burke’s photos from 1987. Richard knew John Mark Karr did work as "companionship for hire” and he traveled from LA to Boulder, to meet Patsy’s son, which he thought had a royal dad. He wanted to see if Patsy’s son liked him. It was true as John Mark Karr said, that he talked to Amy (JonBenet) in 1987-but he didn’t kill anyone. Mark Karr was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006 for the murder of JonBenet, but he was later release, due to lack of evidence.

In June 1987 Richard traveled with rock group Bon Jovi’s tour plane, as someone related to MTV executive office. During his travel he attended a special  midsummer celebration at Stockholm Castle, and at the same time, he had a schedule meeting with Queen Silvia of Sweden. The meeting with Silvia of Sweden did not go as planned, which resulted he left before, and he went back to Bon Jovi's tour plane. Richard had intention to tell Silvia that he could bring in her husband King Carl Gustaf's child from a previous relationship, before they got married in 1976.
At the last stop of Bon Jovi’s tour plane 1987 before returning to US, seven Marrakech male friends to the transgender boarded the plane - all with the same US police documents as Richard.
The youngest of the seven was a 20 year old A-grade student from a school in Cairo. He called himself Bam, born 27 January 1967.
Another man of the seven was Lucinda’s son (no photos shown anywhere) and he had previous worked as a gardener at Oslo Castle, 1976-80. He was responsible for taken out a blue-eyed brunette boy from Oslo Castle in 1977 and a brown-eyed brunette boy from Stockholm Castle to a German consulate family in 1980.
Both boys can return, if all royals living in Oslo Castle and Stockholm Castle, start to remember inside the homes of Oslo Castle gardeners, and the photos taken there, in the late 70’s - because replacements come from there.
Dr. Phil with Burke, and family Ramsey photo
The day Amy (JonBenet) died in 1987, the keys taken by Richard in 1982 to Patsy Ramsey’s home had reached Lucinda’s son, and from there the keys were taken by the man with African Afro (one of the seven Marrakesh males on Bon Jovi’s tour plane 1987) to go inside Ramsey’s house. He was convinced Lucinda’s son was John Ramsey's son from a previous marriage.
Burke must have seen an unknown man rush in the front door and go downstairs to the basement, because of sudden atmosphere change in the house.
It was Lucinda's son who smashed the windows in the basement, where Amy (JonBenet) was laying unconscious, which created a malice.
Burke received a new ID document to be born January 27 within a month after Amy (JonBenet) died, by the man with African Afro, dressed as a police man.

The name Hamilton next to Burke’s name on the internet has been added by an unknown, because John Ramsey had a guard in his office with that name.

There has been created a billion dollar fund since 1987 with help of John Ramsey's money, by a handful group of males - all with the name Bennett in their IDs and the same birthday in August.
There is a source in Cairo since January 1990, that have supplied a large group of their countrymen with a US voters state ID and a payroll to come to US - but if they apply for US Passports, their fingerprints don’t match. Mostly guard-jobs, with intention to move-in to a computer office desk.
It can be counted how many flights a day went from Cairo to NY and LA in 1990.
US has today entire black cast in TV and Motion Picture, who origin from Cairo 1990.
All consulates need to use their own country-men, as staff and security.

There have been US government issued letters in 2010, which state “President Obama demand Sweden to move out from their Los Angeles Swedish consulate mansion and close down all Swedish consulate branches in LA". The letters also state Swedish expired passports holders, should travel to Washington DC (or wait for a Swedish Embassy vehicle twice/year), then show their social security cards and pay a higher fee for a 5-Year Swedish Passport, instead of previous 10-year Swedish Passport.
In that way "the source in Cairo" gets an extra Swedish extra passport for them, with same Swedish name and same social security nr, but with a different person’s photo - because Swedish passports don’t require fingerprints or specify ethnic group.
This can be resolved by starting the mailing of renewal of Swedish passports with fingerprints, and go back to the 10 Year Swedish Passport. The stamp on the
5-year Swedish passport is slightly different, with a specific lighting above.
Sweden can renew their own passports as much as they want to, without showing social security cards, because they were a colony together with Finland in US before the civil-war and Independence Day 1776 - same time as Australia was a colony.

Burke was original Richard’s son with a young Swedish girl, who was influenced by the Indian culture. To be able to get the son from her,  he found her a husband, a young Indian doctor from US and adopted two straight-haired baby boys, who looked a third Indian. The young Swedish girl knew she carried a baby to a woman with a very famous husband. Burke was originally born in August, but his birth year was moved to a younger birth year, before he left Sweden, which caused memory loss.
Lucinda was Richards friend and care-taker of Burke as a baby. She was part of Oslo Castle gardeners 1976-80. Silva Sommerlath met Lucinda and her son at Oslo Castle in 1976, and she later met Lucinda alone in a Swedish church in 1988.
Lucinda knew her son had given Swedish-press a photo of Silvia Sommerlath as a teacher  in Oslo, and written Olympic Game hostess on top of the photo.

Richard got very sick sick after Amy (JonBenet) died and he was hospitalized most part of 1988, but he was ready to talk about the case in December 1988.- It was announced several times in NYC TV that a family-friend to "The murder of Amy Case” will be interviewed in an entertainment news program as “A Current Affair” in the end of December 1988. - No TV interview came on as scheduled, and no cancellation either, because Richard’s interviewer was approached by the Marrakech men, who had his same US police documents. Richard was considered not allowed to talk about the case, because he was in a court-hearing with Queen Silvia of Sweden in a Swedish courthouse in late fall 1987 -  the same time Amy (JonBenet) was murdered in her Boulder home.

Richard tried to get heard until December 1996, but he gave up and left for a long period of time to a country east of Eastern Europe. Later, the same month of December 1996, the transgender was responsible to re-label the publicity of "The Murder Of Amy" to "The Murder Of JonBenet". The same Amy’s photos in sepia 1987-9 were now on the front page of magazines in color, and her hazel-grey eyes were retouched to both blue and green eyed.
The same transgender was responsible to take Marla Maples head-shot (a former LA waitress with Jewish friends) from Donald Trump’s home to Ford model agency computer, right before the Trump divorce, with intention to sabotage minimum height of NYC model agencies by putting a 5.4” with heals-on to be a 5.8” - The same time the designers called model agencies for a 35,5” hip to take 1-4 days extra work in a designer showroom.
Donald Trump showed a 5.8” tall narrow body frame as the author of “Art Of The Deal” in 1987-89, but his oldest look-a-like brother came up February 1990, with a 6.2” tall and wide body-frame, and took over Donald’s life, with a soul in his face, which gave him Donald’s exact facial expressions.

There is an ongoing procedure in US to close down businesses and take over property with help of the internet - then give it to a person with poor knowledge, to control everything behind the scenes, with the same person’s ID name.
OTHER RELATED CASES:
Both Topac Shakor and his shooter came from Cairo to NYC  January 1990, to work in the recording industry.
Topac Shakor was recording at Quad Recording studios 1991 in NYC, when he went on a trip to Las Vegas and got shot. His shooter lived in Las Vegas, and was friends of Las Vegas police, but he had no intention to kill him, just scare him, to have him go down low, away from celebrity circles.
The internet has moved Topac Shakor’s deadly shooting from 1991 to 1996. The photos of Topac on the internet comes from 1990-91, but they are mixed with photos from look-a-like actors 1992-96.
Rodney King came to US in 1977, and he had experienced a police beating, but he did not remember exact date, and he had no tape. The tape at Rodney King's trial was from a police-chase after a deadly shooting, which most likely was the tape of the Topac Shakor's shooter, March 1991.
FACT: A music executive has checked "the line-chart” at Paramount Studios of the song “You Don’t Own Me” released on the motion picture soundtrack movie 1996 “The First Wives Club”. He found out that actress Diane Keaton was singing the song “You Don’t Own Me” with the speaking-voice-microphone in the movie, on top of a master recording, where voice and instrumental, were made at Quad Recording Studios in NYC 1991 - the same time Topac Shakor was recording there, and took a trip to Las Vegas and got shot.
The person that took the master tape from Quad Recording Studios NYC did not know, the song was under 7 years contract with DSM Producers and publisher Warner Chapel Inc, and a publisher had to approve a remake of a song.

9/11 2001. Four of the Marrakesh males from Bon Jovi’s tour-plane 1987, brought in the 1st pilot to the American Airlines cockpit. They didn’t know, that their pilot did not know, how to turn a big passenger plane - He had the auto-pilot on, going towards the World Trade Center. It was about flying a certain level of atmosphere.
First came a “young straight man" in to the 2nd pilot seat in the cockpit, but he had to move back to a passenger seat, when the 1st pilot was brought in. The “ young straight man" was taken out of the plane, together with the 4 Marrakesh males before take-off. The "straight man” who was brought in to the 2nd pilot seat, lives today as a blue-eyed brunette female, in absent, and with an ID as 5 years younger.

There was a office-computer brake-in, 29th of January 2017, during the G’Day USA event "Lego Batman screening and mixer" at TV Academy offices in North Hollywood, by a woman dressed as a male executive.
The woman dressed as a male executive knew 3 of the Marrakesh males, coming to US on Bon Jovi’s tour-plane in 1987.
The purpose of the computer brake-in was to take control over new members, members events and ticket-sale.
FACTS: This can be resolved, by checking which members can sweep their ATAS cards electronically, and then erase the computer systems in their offices and remove a chip.
Some TV Academy members received “error by sender” from outgoing emails about events, from the website Emmys.com, starting January 29 2017.

Stephen Paddock's photo in all news channels
FACT: October 2017. The Mandalay Bay shooter Stephen Paddock (Andrew), had many assault reported to the police, 2003-7 - and he was well-known among celebrities.
No-one knew his real name, but he called himself Andrew, and he was often seen outside Hillary Clinton’s campaign events, and events put on by EmgPR and FingerprintPR.
People who lived north of Sunset blvd in LA, called him "Mr. Padlock with security van”.  If they saw his van parked outside a celebrity home, they knew it was a special event going on, and he came to take over the RSVP-list and create assault. Stephen Paddock was in contact with the seven Marrakesh males on Bon Jovi tour plane in 1987.
Insiders knew Stephen Paddock worked for a group of black males from Cairo who were seeking monopoly in showbiz, by giving female service personal a new CA State ID as younger, then put their names in a celebrity PR's computer, with a  resume of a look-a-like, to arrange dates with famous men. - After a handful of dates with a famous man, a marriage was announced in TV with no papers signed, and a baby was taken out of a Swedish hospital, before the baby reach an adoption bureau.
The same black male group from Cairo change the heads of talents, from old clips of Johnny Carson's talk-shows, and change the whole actor of short movies made by Warner Bros. (computer-tech)
FACTS: It started in 2003, when Stephen Paddock, known as Andrew, created assault of invited guests outside the shoe store opening of Italian Donald Pliner Shoes in Beverly Hills. People went right away with a written report to talk to Beverly Hills police chef Peter Bonomo. Andrew was considered dangerous, ordering around police and fire department in his own ordinary clothes - then hitting down guests on the sidewalk.
FACTS: In 2014 Stephen Paddock (Andrew) was seen smashing drinks from guests hands and taking over the guest-list in the lobby of Standard Hotel in West Hollywood, -  then blocking the entrance of the Standard Hotel's club event “Club promoter Giorgio Moroder Birthday Party”.
FACTS: The same year, 2014 Stephen Paddock (Andrew) was blocking the entrance of "Belvedere Vodka New Flavor Launch" at West Hollywood Club "Greystone Manor” - after friendly Belvedere staff checked guests in, with no delay. Stephen Paddock's girlfriend Marilou Danley was standing next to him, and she was blocking him, with her whole body, not to start fist fights.
FACTS: It was many detailed letters asking for help and money-settlement about (Stephen Paddock)“Andrew” assaults  and copied models-resumes entering PR agents (with proof from agents and casting directors). The detailed email letters went to major law firms in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and New York from the website Lawyers.com in 2003-2007.
Most likely, Stephen Paddock shot his girlfriend Marilou Danley, then himself, because there was no footage of her after the Mandalay Bay shooting.
Stephen was expecting a group of men who were checking the surveillance cameras, who knew -  if his girlfriend had her name on the room, he was there too.
Mandalay Bay policies are, that the person’s name of the room reservation had to show ID, then sign a paper with the date and time of the checking, to receive the room keys. The same date and time, are on the surveillance cameras in Mandalay Bay's hotel lobby.

JonBenet Ramsey Murder Mystery can be compared with a "Elvis Presley photo & name mystery", because there is no US State ID traced of the name Elvis Presley, before he signed a recording contract.
Presley was a stage-name, and was originally spelled with two S, because it came from the word PRESSE next his name Elvis in his German ID, because his father was a press-member and filmmaker during the 2nd World War in Germany.
The letters L and Y was added to PRESSE to become PRESSLEY.
It was easy to create a new family in Tennessee because Elvis father died and he had no more parents in Germany, before moving to US.
Neither Elvis substitute mother Gladys and her husband in Tennessee, had the name Presley in their IDs.
A US State ID was created by a movie executive by pulling up the birth-certificate of Glady's still-born baby in Tennessee, born January 8 1935, but Elvis was born 21 December 1936.
Elvis new US State ID came with complications, because when he got a new job as going brunette - a very much look-a-like body-double was brought in, with natural dark, wavy, he-brew hair.
There was a booklet printed in 1955 about celebrity pets, which featured a series of photos, with text below “ Elvis and his brother Buster and the hound-dog from the TV sitcom “The People’s Choice”.

In 1968 Elvis Presley’s body-double had his small head-photo printed with Elvis name under, in a US newspaper, as the driver of the accidental drowning of Mary Jo Kopechne. Elvis went to the place where his body-double was arrested, and showed his Elvis Presley ID, his own hair and his albums as straight-haired dark blond - and from that point he was free from his body-double.
Once the case died down, the files of the drowning of Mary Jo Kopechne were moved by a guard  to Senator Ted Kennedy's files, and press renamed the case “Chappaquiddick” 1968. (The case was later moved to 1969 on the internet).
A Warner Bros. executive, connected to the Libya mob, was found responsible, and shot dead in his NYC office, before Christmas holidays 1968. His body was later found in the ocean.

COLCOA French Film Festival Announced 17 Awards For Cinema, Television, Shorts and Digital Series at the 22nd Edition of the Festival, which ended yesterday.

LE BRIO Wins LAFCA Jury Award and BLOODY MILK/Petit Paysan Wins Audience Award
LE BRIO Wins LAFCA Jury Award
BLOODY MILK/Petit Paysan Wins Audience Award
(West Hollywood, May 1, 2018) The Franco-American Cultural Fund, a collaboration between the Directors Guild of America, the Motion Picture Association, The Writers Guild of America West and France’s Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music (SACEM), announced today the awards for the 22nd edition of COLCOA French Film Festival.

COLCOA Cinema – 8 Awards

This year’s LAFCA film jury was comprised of Lael Lowenstein (KPCC’s FilmWeek), Wade Major (KPCC’s FilmWeek, DigiGods, CineGods.com) and Chuck Wilson (LA Weekly and Village Voice).

LE BRIO, written and directed by Yvan Attal was awarded the COLCOA LAFCA Critics Award/Prix de la Critiqueby the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Jury at the 22nd edition of COLCOA French Film Festival.

Jury Statement
At a time of heightened racial and religious tensions on both sides of the Atlantic, writer/director Yvan Attal’s superb LE BRIO shines a hopeful light on a subject too often relegated to dark prognostications. In blending elements from such classics as PYGMALION and THE PAPER CHASE with serious issues of contemporary concern, Attal’s smart, elegantly-crafted and superbly entertaining film is both socially relevant and artistically proficient, making it the perfect choice for our COLCOA jury.  In the hands of veteran Daniel Auteuil and dazzling newcomer Camélia Jordana, Attal’s crackling dialogue becomes the spark that sets off one of the most incendiary screen pairings in recent years.
C’EST LA VIE!/Le Sens de lafête, written and directed by Éric Toledano & Olivier Nakache, was awarded the LAFCA Critics Special Prize/Prix Special de la Critique.
Jury Statement
C’EST LA VIE! is further confirmation that Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache are among the most skilled filmmakers currently working anywhere in the world. It’s an unbelievable juggling act — folding an unwieldy number of characters and subplots into a single, frenetic event — that manages to be as life-affirming as it technically accomplished.
LUNA, written and directed by Elsa Diringer, received the Best First Feature Award/Prix du Meilleur Premiere Film.

Jury Statement
Our jury also celebrates the achievement of first-time writer/director Elsa Diringer whose LUNA stands apart from a host of other films wrestling with the contemporary challenges of youth. Anchored by a sterling lead performance from Laëtitia Clément, LUNA is at once heartbreaking and impassioned, deeply empathetic and bracingly optimistic.

BLOODY MILK/Petit Paysan, written and directed by Hubert Charuel, won the distinguished COLCOA Audience Award/Prix du Public.
PROMISE AT DAWN/La Promesse de l’aube, written and directed by Éric Barbier, opened the festival, and won the Audience Special Prize/Prix Special du Public.

MAKALA, directed by Emmanual Gras, received the Best Documentary Award/Prix du Meilleur Documentaire.

CUSTODY/Jusqu’ à la garde, written and directed by Xavier Legrand, was awarded the Coming Soon Award, which is awarded to a film with a U.S. distributor.   The film will be released by Kino Lorber later this year.
SEE YOU UP THERE/Au revoir là-haut, written and directed by Albert Dupontel, won the American Students Award/Prix des Etudiants Amercains.  This award was voted on exclusively by a jury of ten students from local area high schools and colleges.

COLCOA Television – 4 Awards

– Academy Award-nominated actor Edward James Olmos announced 2018 festival programming for the long-awaited return of LALIFF, the largest Latino film festival to be hosted out of Hollywood, CA, to be presented at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood June 20 – 24 2018.

After 5 years absent  of the festival,  LALIFF’s new Director of Programming Diana Sanchez, and Senior Programmer Dilcia Barrera are introduced.

The Festival will showcase variety of international films by next generation Latino filmmakers including Alan Palomo and Guadalupe Rosales, and a 5-day music series and CultureStrike art installation to coincide with festival, along with first-ever student film festival (LALIFF Legacy)

The Latino festival returns with expanded programming, including both short and long form films created, directed, starring or produced by the next generation of Latino entertainers. filmmakers and cast to present their award-winning work from across the globe: Argentina, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, Spain and North America.

“LALIFF has long been the most important Latino film festival in the U.S.but this time around, with the launch of LALIFF Art, LALIFF Music and LALIFF Legacy, we are making sure it becomes the Mecca of Latino content,” said Edward James Olmos, founder of LALIFF. “LALIFF is a celebration of having our voices heard beyond the film screen, and we felt it crucial to bring the festival back to the place where it started in Hollywood, CA.

LALIFF, aimed at showcasing Latino perspectives through art will kick-off opening night with the Los Angeles premier of “The Sentence,” winner of the “Audience Award – U.S. Documentary” at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Drawing from hundreds of hours of footage, filmmaker Rudy Valdez shows the aftermath of his sister Cindy’s 15-year sentence for conspiracy charges related to crimes committed by her deceased ex-boyfriend—something known, in legal terms, as “the girlfriend problem.” Valdez’s method of coping with this tragedy is to film his sister’s family for her, both the everyday details and the milestones—moments Cindy herself can no longer share in. But in the midst of this nightmare, Valdez finds his voice as both a filmmaker and activist, and he and his family begin to fight for Cindy’s release during the last months of the Obama administration’s clemency initiative. Whether their attempts will allow Cindy to break free of her draconian sentence becomes the aching question at the core of this deeply personal portrait of a family in crisis.

Many local and international guests will attend the festival, including iconic Spanish cult filmmaker, Alex de la Iglesia, whose latest comedy Perfect Strangers, is a hilarious commentary on how smartphones can be disastrous for relationships, Veneno, The First Fall, starring Manny Perez, details the life of Dominican wrestler Jack Veneno, who himself was inspired by the films of “El Santo.” Both Manny Perez and filmmaker Tabaré Blanchard will attend.

The festival will also feature 26 bold short films throughout, including the following:

Good Crazy, the Sundance premiered directorial debut of actress Rosa Salizar (James Cameron’s and director Robert Rodriguez’s forthcoming sci-fi action film Alita: Battle Angel, FX’s American Horror Story: Murder House, and the Maze Runner film series).

The Borscht Corp Collective, a series of short films including Chlorophyll from Academy Award-winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) in celebration of its 10-year anniversary.

LALIFF will offer two $5 special screenings that include the presentation of Santo Contra “Cererbro del Mal” (1961), a partnership with the Academy Film archive that marks the West Coast premiere of the restoration. To celebrate the World Cup, we are pleased to offer the Uruguayan film Home Team, a tale about a small town boy whose prodigious talent for soccer takes him to places he never dared to dream.

A special Latinx podcast event (“Live from LALIFF”) with Latinos Who Lunch and Locatora Radio will be free and open to the public, as they interview the creator, Tanya Saracho, and the stars of Starz’s new original hit show, VIDA.

The festival will also host the first-ever student film festival, LALIFF Legacy, powered by the year-round work in public schools of the Youth Cinema Project. This two-day student event is presented by CAA.

CONCERN FOUNDATION’S 44th ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY FUNDRAISER WILL HONOR DR. JAY & KRIS CALVERT AS CANCER CRUSADERS IN THE QUEST TO CONQUER CANCER, JULY 14 2018 AT PARAMOUNT STUDIOS IN HOLLYWOOD, CA.

Concern Foundation for cancer research will host its 44th Annual Block Party on the back lot of Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on Saturday July 14th 2018 with a new theme “Super Heroes in conquering cancer".The event will feature multiple stages of live entertainment, casino style games, live and silent auctions, and food, desserts and beverages from over 70 of Los Angeles’ best restaurants and caterers.

In addition to hosting the various vendors, caterers, sponsors and guests, Concern Foundation chooses to honor members of the community that have provided a significant change towards the fight against cancer. This year, in connection to the theme, the foundation is happy to honor Dr. Jay & Kris Calvert and family as this year’s “Cancer Crusaders” for their participation in helping to conquer cancer through research.

2018 marks Concern’s 50th year and since inception Concern has awarded over $60 Million Dollars in salary support to well over 750 cancer researchers.  While cancer is still one of the leading causes of death in the world, major strides have been made and there are more people surviving their cancer than ever before thanks to cancer research.
Nolan Band at Concern Block Party in 2017 (Photo by Karen Ostlund)
The Annual Block Party comes as the organization’s largest fundraising event, and for its 44th run will once again be bringing together various vendors, restaurants individual donors and sponsors from the neighboring Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and various Southern California neighborhoods. The anticipated 4,000 supporters will be filling the streets of the iconic New York backlot at Paramount Pictures Studios and the Annual Block Party will be Celebrating 50 Years of Super Heroes: Researchers, Donors and Volunteers.  The true super heroes in the quest to conquer cancer.  The Block Party hopes to reach an additional milestone by exceeding their goal to raise $2 million to financially support research focused on immunology-based methods to treating cancer. This achievement would exceed last year’s total of $1.7 million dollars raised and granted to cancer research.
Dr. Jay & Kris Calvert – 2018 Cancer Crusaders
Dr. Jay Calvert has been consecutively named one of Los Angeles Magazine's “Super Doctors” in 2014, 2015, and 2016.  He has appeared on multiple hit television programs including CBS’s “The Doctors” and OWN’s “Dr. Phil”.  Alongside his wife Kris, Jay has openly shared their personal experience with cancer; having had prostate cancer affect the lives of both their fathers.
The Calvert’s 10 year old son Ace was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 4 and while today he has beaten his cancer, ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) can always return and he is never truly cured.  This is a major reason he and his family feels so strongly about raising money to help find a permanent cure.
Jay himself was a young scientist who could not get funding early in his career as a molecular biologist and he personally knows how important our mission to supporting young investigators is to jump start researcher’s careers.
Concern Foundation is proud to have these members of the community serve as this year’s honorees. Their personal connection to the fight against cancer and philanthropic actions alongside the non-profit organization is sure to help make this year’s Block Party a success.
“It’s truly an honor for Concern Foundation to recognize the Calvert family as this year’s Cancer Crusader honorees for their commitment to helping provide salary support for cancer researchers and for sharing their personal story.” Stated Derek Alpert, Concern’s President.
Concern Foundation’s mission is to conquer cancer by providing essential funds to support the early yet critical stages of discovery. Concern has raised and awarded 60 million dollars to 750 gifted cancer scientists studying cancer, primarily in the areas of cancer genetics, cell biology, immunotherapy and immunology around the world.

For 50 years, Concern has pioneered the advancement of cancer immunology—the study of the relationship between the immune system and cancer—a field that is now widely acknowledged to hold the most potential for discovering treatments and preventions for cancer.

With 90-95% of net proceeds going directly to research, Concern Foundation has made significant strides toward bridging a major gap in research funding by focusing its grants on young, innovative researchers with breakthrough ideas.

GETTY MUSEUM PRESENTS 100 YEARS OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

The exhibition explores a varied history through more than 180 photographs, costumes and drawings.

Paul Martineau

Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography, 1911-2011 is on view today June 26 to October 21, 2018 at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Getty Center. The exhibition is curated by Paul Martineau, associate curator of photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum. A book of the exhibit by Paul Martineau is released by Getty Publications this summer 2018.

“My hope is that this sweeping introduction to fashion photography will not only educate and delight our visitors, but also inspire new scholarly inquiry,” said Martineau. “Long overlooked, the gradual integration of fashion photographs into museum collections will make it easier for these pictures to be evaluated in terms of the larger history of the medium of photography.”

LOS ANGELES – At their core, fashion photographs are made for consumption in magazines and advertising. They are intended to arouse desire in viewers, whether it be for beauty, style, or even the trendiest lip shade or haircut. To capture attention, fashion photographs perpetually shift style or approach in the face of social, political, and economic change. Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography, 1911-2011, on view June 26-October 21, 2018 at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Getty Center, is the most comprehensive exploration of this phenomenon yet undertaken, featuring more than 160 fashion photographs alongside a selection of costumes, illustrations, magazine covers, videos and advertisements. Drawn from the Getty Museum’s photographs collection as well as significant loans, the exhibition presents the work of more than eighty photographers, illuminating the innovative aesthetic and technological changes in the field.
Richard Avalon 1965
“Once overlooked by collectors and museums because of its commercial origins, fashion photography is now recognized as having produced some of the most creative work of the twentieth century, transcending its illustrative function to yield images of great artistic quality and sophistication,” said Timothy Potts, director of the J. Paul Getty Museum. “Museums, however, have been slow to embrace this genre. The time seems ripe to present a sweeping overview of the finest examples of fashion photography produced over the past century.”
Helmut Newton
The exhibition features the work of such renowned fashion photographers as Richard Avedon, Lillian Bassman, Guy Bourdin, Erwin Blumenfeld, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Hiro, Inez & Vinoodh, Peter Lindbergh, Man Ray, Helmut Newton, Nick Knight, Gordon Parks, Irving Penn, Herb Ritts, Edward Steichen, and Tim Walker as well as lesser-known but influential artists such as Corinne Day, Gleb Derujinsky, Toni Frissell, and Kourken Pakchanian.
The Mask 2010 by Mart & Marcus
“In 2010, we began working to strengthen the Museum’s collection of fashion photographs in the hopes of creating a foundation on which we could build a groundbreaking exhibition,” says Paul Martineau, associate curator of photographs at the Getty Museum and curator of the exhibition. “I continue to be intrigued by the ability of some fashion photographs to transcend their original commercial function in order to be considered true works of fine art.”
Grace Kelly in LIFE 1955
The exhibition opens with a key moment in the emergence of modern fashion photography when, in 1911, French publisher Lucien Vogel challenged photographer Edward Steichen to create the first artistic fashion photographs. Before then, photographs were often too realistic to attract a public familiar with the highly idealized images popularized by illustrators such as Erté and Paul Iribe. During the first two decades of the twentieth century there was a considerable shift in women’s fashion, moving away from tightly corseted dresses to the more comfortable, natural, looser fitting clothing of innovators such as Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel. On view will be early photographs by Steichen and Baron Adolf de Meyer, two artists who were responsible for creating the foundations of modern fashion photography at the behest of Vogue magazine mogul Condé Nast.

Photographs produced during the Great Depression and World War II reveal how political and economic changes influenced the fashion industry. During the Depression, top style magazines continued to emphasize luxury and glamour, offering an escape from the harsh realities of the period. During World War II, fashion magazines tried to remain relevant by adopting a positive, can-do approach to life. In step with war-time rationing, fashion became simpler and used less fabric, and photographers adopted a more restrained approach. The exhibition includes several examples of “patriotic chic,” a style of dress or representation that underscored national values. Keep the Home Fires Burning (1941) by Louise Dahl-Wolfe features a model in a simple slip turned away from the camera and staring into the fireplace, apparently waiting for her husband to return from the war.
Cecil Beaton
The 1950s marked what many consider to be the Golden Age of fashion photography, with a return to glamour through designers such as Cristóbal Balenciaga, Christian Dior, and Jacques Griffe. Richard Avedon and Irving Penn brought the elegant dresses of these designers to life with different but equally visually arresting approaches to their work. Penn dominated studio-based fashion photography while Avedon excelled at showing models on location and in action. Paired with bold visual treatments in magazines, work by these and other artists delivered fashion photography to an aspirational public emerging from decades of war and hardship.
William Claxton photo 1964
The 1960s and 70s were a time when youth culture, the sexual revolution, and later the women’s liberation movement, were catalysts for new possibilities in fashion photography. William Klein photographed his models in urban settings using a 35mm camera, perfecting a gritty street style that was celebrated for its surprising vitality. Leading designers of the mid-1960s ushered in a variety of fanciful new looks such as hippie, mod, gypsy, and space age. Neal Barr’s 1966 photograph of Dianne Newman captures the zeitgeist in a mini-dress with patterned tights, bug-eye glasses, and a cropped haircut – all shot from a low angle to give the image a slightly unbalanced, psychedelic aura.
Halston dress 1975

In the 1970s, ready-to-wear clothing lines by Halston, Anne Klein, and Yves Saint Laurent were coveted by women who had newly entered the workforce and were attempting to balance their jobs and families. Photographers such as Arthur Elgort endeavored to show women going about their everyday routines, and hired models who were relatable, natural, and health-conscious. Others such as Helmut Newton and Chris von Wagenheim challenged propriety with aggressive, sexualized images that often turned the tables on traditional gender stereotypes. The 1960s and 70s also saw increased diversity, with African American models such as Donyale Luna and Beverly Johnson being chosen to grace the covers of top style magazines for the first time. Johnson’s historic 1974 Vogue cover will be on view.
Bruce Weber

Fashion photography of the 1980s and 90s embraced the athletic female body, the display of male sexuality, the birth of the supermodel, and the introduction of darker motifs in the genre. The 1980s saw the rise of corporate power dressing, the fitness trend, and the ascension of Italian designers such as Gianni Versace and Giorgio Armani. Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber portrayed well-built male models in ways that emphasized their sexuality, forever changing how men were represented in fashion and advertising. Beauty and power were also exemplified by a new group of “supermodels,” who were offered enormous salaries for walking runways all over the world. Ritts is known for creating one of the most famous photographs of this time – the seemingly nude embrace of supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Stephanie Seymour, and Christy Turlington.

In the 1990s, an economic downturn, an increase in drug use, and the incorporation of the Seattle-based grunge movement by the fashion industry gave birth to “heroin chic,” which presented stick-thin models such as Kate Moss in sickly looking makeup. The raw, overexposed style of Corinne Day, who shot unkempt models in shabby environments was not only a source of inspiration for this new style, but also the antithesis of the over-the-top glamour and excess of the previous decade.
Horst
The exhibition concludes by presenting a diverse selection of contemporary photographs that reveals some of the ongoing possibilities of fashion photography, and the digital tools that have reshaped the notion of what—technically and conceptually—a fashion photograph is.
The growth of street-style fashion blogs such as Scott Schuman’s The Sartorialist (2005) and global internet picture-sharing applications such as Instagram (2010) and Snapchat (2011) are reshaping a rapidly evolving industry, providing aspiring and established fashion photographers with new outlets for their work.

The Getty Museum 2nd Exhibit opening the same day is : GETTY RESEARCH INSTITUTE PRESENTS

ARTISTS AND THEIR BOOKS / BOOKS AND THEIR ARTISTS

The exhibition draws on the Getty Research Institute’s extensive collection of artists’ books and features work: paper, stainless steel wires, tubing, colored ink, pencil and watercolor by more than 40 contemporary artists Barbara Fahrner (German, b. 1940) - Daniel E. Kelm (American, b. 1951) and Philosopher’s Stone, 1992.
"Artists and Their Books / Books and Their Artists" presents more than 40 of the liveliest and most unexpected examples of artists’ books from the GRI’s Special Collections. The exhibit is on view at the Getty Research Institute from June 26 through October 28, 2018,

“Books are at the heart of the Getty Research Institute’s collections, from fifteenth and sixteenth-century illustrated editions to the avant-garde experiments of the early 20th century to our large and varied collection of more than 6,000 books made by artists from the 1950s to today,” said Andrew Perchuk, acting director of the Getty Research Institute. “These striking works often make their way into the GRI’s collections through our relationships with contemporary artists or they come as part of artists’ archives, which we collect in depth. Artists’ books resonate with the GRI’s interest in exploring creative processes and are a fundamental and often understudied element of art history. I am certain our visitors will find these extraordinary examples evocative and compelling.”

Artists’ books occupy a creative space between traditional books and contemporary works of art, often questioning what a book can be. This highly visual and experiential exhibition focuses on artists’ books that can be unpacked, unfolded, or read in alternative ways. Some are made to be shown on the wall or displayed as sculptures or installations. The exhibition highlights the myriad incarnations and innovative roles for books in contemporary culture.

“When artists make or design books, they delve into the possibilities of this distinctive cultural object in ways that expand our notions of what a book can be,” said Marcia Reed, chief curator of the Getty Research Institute and one of the curators of the exhibition. “The book holds a special status in contemporary art practice, and we look forward to sharing examples from this critical collecting area of the GRI with wider audiences. Because the GRI’s collections of artists’ books are not well known, for several years we have been working on a publication that shares selected works from postwar and contemporary collection of artists’ books. This exhibition and the related catalogue is born of that research. Together this stunningly designed volume and the exhibition of selected artists’ books—slightly different from the book—show the breadth of our collection of artists’ books as well as illustrating how books designed and made by artists extend the boundaries of the GRI’s rare book collections.”
Some of the artists in the exhibition, such as Tauba Auerbach and Dieter Roth specialize in making art in the form of books, or have established small presses, like Sam Francis’ Lapis Press in Santa Monica and Venice and Felicia Rice’s Moving Parts Press in Santa Cruz. Many others who are primarily known as sculptors, painters, or performance artists have also experimented in artists’ books, including Ellsworth Kelly, Anselm Kiefer, Barbara T. Smith and Wei Tan.

“Many of the works in this exhibition might not look like a book at all, but they all play with the idea of what a book is and how to engage with it,” said Glenn Phillips, exhibition co-curator and head of modern and contemporary art collections the GRI. “It is interesting to note that while many artists have devoted their practices to making books, there are so many more artists working in other media who have made books at some point in their careers. Although they may be challenging to display and even collect, books seem to have the same appeal to artists as they do to other readers – the objects themselves can be just as compelling as the content within.”

The books, multiples, and unique objects included in the exhibition take different shapes, some made with surprising materials, while being made to be looked at or interacted with in different ways. For example, The Philosopher’s Stone, 1992, a unique book-object by Barbara Fahrner and Daniel E. Kelm, is a geometric paper egg that holds nuggets of wisdom to be revealed as corners are turned down and intricately drawn panels filled with handwritten text are unfurled. Once fully taken apart, it is no easy feat to put the angular ‘pages’ of this book-inspired paper sculpture back together.

One of the more recent works in the exhibition is DOC/UNDOC (2017) by Felicia Rice and Guillermo Gómez-Peña. Riffing on earlier boxes assembled by Marcel Duchamp, this is a high-tech aluminum case that holds an altar, a cabinet of curiosities, and a Mexican wrestling mask.  Opening the case triggers lights and music, the sound art created for the piece by Zachary Watkins. Installation of this work will include a multimedia component giving visitors the opportunity to experience these interactive elements.

One of the earliest pieces in the exhibition stands out for its confrontational style – and smell. Dieter Roth’s work Poetrie, 1967, is a book made of 21 clear vinyl envelopes for pages, on which the texts of poems are printed. The envelopes contain urine, now desiccated and yellow green, retaining its distinctive odor, which may be getting stronger over time. The artist produced this book in an edition of 30; fifty years after their publication the see-through pages have wrinkled and changed color but still make a strong impression.

This summer sees the release of the Getty publication Artists and Their Books / Books and Their Artists, which inspired the exhibition. Edited by Marcia Reed and Glenn Phillips, this volume includes over one hundred important examples selected from the Getty Research Institute’s Special Collections.

The publication also presents precursors to the artist’s book, such as Joris Hoefnagel’s sixteenth-century calligraphy masterpiece; early illustrated scientific works; and avant-garde publications. Mid twentieth-century works in the publication reveal the impact of Pop Art, Fluxus, Conceptualism, feminist art, and postmodernism on artists’ books. The selection of books by an international range of artists who have chosen to work with texts and images on paper provokes new inquiry into the long-term fertile relationship of art and books in contemporary culture.

A full list of artists included in the exhibition Artists and Their Books / Books and Their Artists is attached. http://www.getty.edu/research/exhibitions_events/exhibitions/artists_books/index.html

Incredible HULK at Concern Foundation 44th Annual Block Party
Last Saturday, July 14th, nearly 4,000 supporters filled the streets of the New York backlot at Paramount Pictures Studios when the Concern Foundation celebrated 50 Years of Super Heroes: Researchers, Donors and Volunteers.
2018 marked Concern’s 50th year and Concern has since awarded over $60 million dollars in salary support to over 750 cancer researchers in total.
The event was led by event chair Lexy Carroll and a team of volunteers and designed once again by (center) John Ferdenzi of Town and Country Event Rentals, who received the Spirit of Concern Award 2018 by (right) Concern President Derek Alpert and Lisi Teller, Executive Chair Concern  Foundation.
Concern Foundation 44th Annual Block Party on the back lot of Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood  brought in $1.8 million, which 90-95% of net proceeds went directly to research.
Concern Foundation honored members of the community that have provided a significant change towards the fight against cancer. This year, the foundation honored Dr. Jay & Kris Calvert and family as this year’s “Cancer Crusaders” for their participation in helping to conquer cancer through research.

Dr. Jay Calvert, also known as a scientist has been named one of Los Angeles Magazine's “Super Doctors” in 2014, 2015, and 2016.  He has appeared on hit television programs including CBS’s “The Doctors” and OWN’s “Dr.
“It’s truly an honor for Concern Foundation to recognize the Calvert family as this year’s Cancer Crusader honorees for their commitment to helping provide salary support for cancer researchers and for sharing their personal story.” said Derek Alpert, Concern’s President.
